Hollywood Cemetery

Rooftop Films normally screens films high atop the city, but this summer it’s going six feet under. The non-profit just announced that its Summer Series will open with a night at The Green-Wood Cemetery, in Brooklyn. If that strikes you as morbid, rest assured Los Angeles has cemetery cinema in the form of screenings at the Hollywood Forever cemetery, where Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone are buried. So, why shouldn’t we?The Summer Series will open May 19, with a series of short films, including “The Burden,” by Swedish filmmaker Niki Lindroth Von Bahr. Judging from the teaser, it’ll be a hit with Isle of Dogs fans. As usual, there’ll be live music before the films and– yes– a party in the cemetery afterwards. The “New York Non-Fiction” program of short NYC-centric docs will also take place at Green-Wood, on June 30. Tickets go on sale at the end of the month, and are already available to Greenwood or Rooftop members.
